October starts my favorite time of the year... cooler temps, birthdays, pumpkin everything... the list could go on. I have been waiting for Noah to be old enough to enjoy fun seasonal things, like carving pumpkins! I've heard from a few people that Scotland celebrates Halloween much like the US. Maybe not as popular, but we will see. Pumpkins aren't out all month long to buy, just a week or two, so when I heard that pumpkins were seen at the local grocery store, I went and snatched some up for us to carve. I got one for Jason, myself, and a smaller one for Noah to paint. He really enjoyed it, and then had fun splashing rocks in his paint water too. As I predicted, he didn't want anything to do with the insides of the pumpkin, and he just went back to painting his. The days are getting shorter, with it being fully dark by 7pm, (different than 11pm!) the weather is cool, (low 50's) and there was a bit of wind, so we finished up our family evening with a nice family picture on our stoop. (I need to work on my camera remote skills... it's blurry, but I like it.)
We then spent the evening roasting pumpkin seeds. It was a perfect end to a great day!

Happy Halloween!

I'm from Scotland, and lived in Aberdeen for 9 years (now in Edinburgh!). I've been on holiday a few times in America at Halloween time, and I'm afraid to say that Halloween in Scotland is nothing like Halloween in America :( Sure there are costumes, parties, and trick or treating but nothing like on the same scale. People don't tend to go crazy on the decorating front. I'm a little sad by it! It should be bigger here, but I think it is slowly getting there!
