the nursery plan

Ah, finally, finally the nursery has come together!!  As I mentioned before, this room puzzled me for quite some time!  I just didn't know what I wanted, and after some failed DIY's, I finally found my groove and put together a sweet little nursery for our newest little brother.
I did add some handmade touches, I made a tassel wall hanging, and stamped some curtains, (inspired by #6 + 8), along with a little book shelf, and some wall shelves.  Baby blanket - it's coming.

camp.

This summer we are focused on the littlest brother arriving, so we haven't taken many trips, but we are already planning what next year in vacations will look like, and camping is on that list!  I am really drawn to camp gear/design right now.  Here are some of my current faves.
P.S.  Have you seen my latest party post on Oh Happy Day! ?  A Camp Party!

colorful baby

I am slowly making my way through a giant mountain of packed boxes, that have overtaken the extra room, AKA the nursery.  (We just moved almost 3 weeks ago) I hope to get it cleared out this week so I can start figuring out what I am going to do in there!  I have a few plans already in the works, but I am finding it hard to envision his space this time... so it will be a work in progress.
I already shared some neutral baby ideas, but I am also loving bright and colorful.  I hope to merge the two to make up baby boys room... Above are some of my current favorite colorful inspirations.

With both my first boys, I had a strong opinion on the nursery style and baby gear from the start.  But with this one, I flip flop back and forth between neutral and colorful.  I don't need much, and will be reusing many items we already have around the house, but do plan on making a few items and adding a few things to his nursery.  Above are my favorite looks right now, for a neutral baby.

I am really drawn to the combo of black and white lately, and these two little "bashful ladies" are super sweet.

I have never been a big Halloween decorator, but thank you Pinterest for showing me some great minimal, modern Halloween projects to try!  I've been leaning towards black accents, but those brightly painted pumpkins are looking good.

stripe love

| 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. |
I have been a tad bit stripe happy for awhile now. I am always looking for a good stripe, for myself and my boys.  I noticed Noah's fave striped shirts were getting too small, so luckily I snagged some of these above for him (and Asher) to restock his drawers.  These are the latest I am loving.

I love the color combo of pink and bright neon pink/orange/red.  Even better if it is little triangles, like this blanket.  If I had a little girl, I would be throwing out her bedding and making my own version of this color combo!

dreaming of the lake

I am just dreaming of a vacation where we are required to be in shorts and bathing suits the entire time.  I  NEED SUN + WATER.  I would love to have a long weekend at the lake... you will find me lounging in the sun, while Jason and the boys grill out and play... sounds perfect to me!

OH HAPPY DAY contributor!

I am super excited to say that I will be contributing to Oh Happy Day!  If you could have only seen the giddy grin on my face when I read her first email to me!  Jordan's blog was the very first blog I started reading, and really, jump started me into starting my own blog, years ago.  I will be posting party ideas from baby showers, birthdays, holidays, and casual get togethers!
Are you ready for July 4th?  Take a look at my first post here...

a little circus party

Asher's first birthday is fast approaching!  And I will be honest and say, I have had plans for a circus party since before he was born, but I haven't put anything together until recently.  (I have a Pinterest 'circus' board for some inspiration.)  Now with a circus party, I could easily go all out, but we are going to have a small, understated, circus theme... just a few things festive.  Above are some of my main ideas... I am so making this triangle garland!

summer (and spring!) citrus

I'm sure we still have a couple more months of cold left here in Scotland, (snow in the forecast for next week!) But with the promise that spring is near, my mind is already on warmer weather, and I can't wait for Scotland's "summer" of 60 degree days!  (Or even in the 50's!)  Citrus screams warm, sunny weather... and I can't wait to try out some citrus drinks soon, too, including this spicy roasted pinapple lemonade!

be mine.

For some reason every year, I don't think I will get into all the pinks and reds and things that comes with Valentines Day.  But come February 1st, I am sucked in and craving some in my life, and quickly scheming on what I should do to make our day special.  I am loving heart balloons this year, and picked some up at our local Asda, (Walmart-like!) and I am excited to give them to our little big boy next week.... And I know I used Michiemay Paperie's banner for New Years, but they are just so good!  I'm loving them.  Happy love day everyone...

a stay at home New Year's Eve...

I have never been a big 'stay out late' party person, although sometimes I do dream of dressing up in an all gold sequin outfit and staying out past midnight to celebrate the new year.  Maybe one day!  Right now, with two little ones, I am just as happy to stay in, play some fun music while Noah dances, light new years sparklers and throw confetti to ring in the new year.  Add this cute little 'cheers' banner and we've got a party!  Maybe even try a fun new drink recipe and snuggle up in a cozy blanket and watch the movie, 'New Year's Eve'.  I've never seen it!
(Rachel and Rubyellen had some fun New Year's family parties last year! I love those year glasses.  I gotta make some!)

I generally stay close to reds and greens for our Christmas decorations, but I am really liking "winter decor", especially black and whites.  Woods, trees, bears, moose, reindeer... Maybe it's because I am actually living in a place that has a real winter.  With snow.  :)

a classic halloween

Our costumes are decided, we have carved pumpkins, and we are on our way to eating plenty of pumpkin-y treats.  Scotland does do Halloween, but I have been craving some classic Halloween, with leave-lined sidewalks, cool (not freezing) weather, fun parties with bobbing for apples, and costume contests, trees filled with ghosts made of sheets, and simple decorations, like black bat garland and fake spiderwebs everywhere.  --It all sounds very USA-Halloween-up-in-New-England to me.  Or even Martha Stewart magazine-y... As you can see here,  I got my pumpkin carving inspiration from the above #1...
Happy (end of) October!

Etsy guest curator

I was so surprised and excited when Etsy asked me to be a guest curator on their blog... I am in full fall mode over here, so I put together a collection of fall decor, a little masquerade party and some fall crafting goodies to do with your family!  Take a look here and see what I found.  Thanks so much Etsy, it was fun! Below is a little costume party inspiration, find out more in my Etsy post!

london bound...

We are headed to London for a little weekend trip.  Our first family European vacation!  I am so happy the flight is only an hour and a half, verses 10 hours (to Texas).  So much easier!  We aren't even bringing the car seats.  Just one suitcase for all four!  We plan on seeing the regular London sites, visiting with a couple of friends, going to the Renegade Craft Fair (!!), and checking out the London Zoo.
I think I have a growing fondness of red double decker buses.  I have a mini collection forming.  Would love this print to add to it...

Happy weekend!
