SHOP UPDATE

Shop?  Do I still have a shop?  Technically yes.  Months ago I had mentioned working on some new things for the shop, I was excited about these ideas (that were only in my head) and then having two kids took priority, and other projects that I have had on my list to make... and then I started being lazy about creating for PAPER+TWINE and really started wondering if I even wanted to have a shop anymore.  I have really enjoyed it, and I still get regular requests for my Tooth Fairy Kits.  But these days my heart isn't fully into it, and I'd rather be with my family, or be crafting for my family, not the shop.  

SoOoo... what does this mean?  I don't want to jump the gun and say I am closing up shop, but for now, I am clearing it's shelves of my Gocco printed cards.  All sets of 4 in the shop are half off!!  Get them while they're hot!  

I do plan on adding some more Tooth Fairy Kits at some point, but don't have a set date.  Will I have new items?  Not sure.  I had some great ideas, but the thing about waiting too long, and the internet is someone else came out and did pretty much exactly what I had planned.  Darn.  It sure looks good though!  Great minds think alike I guess...

Etsy guest curator

I was so surprised and excited when Etsy asked me to be a guest curator on their blog... SHOP UPDATE: santa claus calling cards in the shop!

Santa Claus calling cards back in the shop for the Christmas season!  I can't wait to really introduce Santa to my boys this year... when we were young, Santa Claus always left unwrapped gifts by the fireplace for us... I think we will do that too, but add his little calling card to the gifts, with each boys name on it, so they know that Santa was there!  

Each set comes in a drawstring bag, hand stamped with Santa's silhouette, with ten calling cards, which are hand stamped, by a hand carved stamp!  

Is it too early to say Merry Christmas?!

SHOP UPDATE: tooth fairy kits in the shop!

I have a handful of tooth fairy kits in the shop.  In two colors, teal and coral.  Get them while they're hot!  I plan on adding more to the shop regularly, so keep checking if you don't get one! 

I am planning on adjusting the making process of these to stamps instead of Gocco printing, for the printed tooth on the drawstring bag.  Gocco is a bit longer of a process, and with my time filled with 2 little boys, I am trying to cut down the production time of these.  I actually think they will look a lot better too.  The next batch will be done with stamps!

SHOP IS OPEN!

My Etsy shop, PAPER+TWINE, is back open!  I decided to open it a day early, so go ahead and check it out.  There are Gocco printed everyday cards, and coral Tooth Fairy Kits available... teal ones will be added to the shop soon.  I was planning on adding a couple hand bound journals, but they got a little dirty in the move, so I don't want to sell them.  It's a slow opening... I'm easing back into making things for the shop.  In the next couple of months, look for a couple new items, teal Tooth Fairy Kits, and some new hand bound journals.

shop re-opening!

My shop, PAPER+TWINE, will be re-opening August 1st.  You will find the same 'ol favorites, including my Tooth Fairy Kits, and a couple of handbound journals, along with hand sketched gocco'ed cards.  I do plan on adding some new items to the shop, but they will be ready more towards September.  

I've been playing around with some new photos for my shop.  Partially because I was ready for a change... and we sold the wood table in our big move that I used to use.  :)  I'm no pro photographer, but I think they will look decent enough.  :)  

I am excited to be making again, for my shop, and for our family.  My list of things I want to sew/make keeps growing!  It's a balance between being a mom to my two boys, spending time with Jason, and wanting to have some alone time with my sewing machine.    I've learning that projects I think of are just projects, and they will get done in time, even if it takes the whole rest of the year to complete them!  

Keep in mind that I am now shipping from the UK, so shipping costs will be higher to ship to the US.  

NEED YOUR OPINION!!!

 I could use your opinion.  I have had this blog since 2007.  Going on 5 years!!  When I started it, I just picked a random name that had to do with where I live.  Sugar Land.  Well... now that we are moving to Scotland in a few weeks, 'Sugar Lander' doesn't seem to fit it anymore.  But I am not sure if I should change my blog name to something else... And I don't want, 'My Life as a Scotlander'.  ;)  With my Etsy shop growing and with my blog followers growing too, I was thinking of changing it to a name that better fit with my shop, PAPER+TWINE.  Or should it just stay, 'My Life as a Sugar Lander'?  Would it totally be confusing to people who come via a link for 'Sugar Lander'?

I would love your opinion!!  Thank you!

cupid kits

WOW!  All the Cupid Kits have been sold... in pretty much ONE weekend!  Thank you all so much who purchased.  They are now on their way to you!

And with that... the shop is closed now.  :(  So sad.  But it really is perfect timing, because we are getting crazy busy with moving.  (Freight people come on Friday to gather our things!)  Have no fear, I fully plan on re-opening the shop at the earliest, June 2012. There will be the same 'ol faves, and I hope to add a couple new items in the future. They are still being developed in my head.  :)  

Thank you all so much for such a wonderful 2011 for PAPER+TWINE.  It has been a treat to create for you!

SHOP UPDATE: cupid kits are here!

Cupid Kits are back in the shop! I have only a set amount in the shop this season.  Get them now!!  Each Cupid Kit comes in a muslin bag, with paper tag sewn on.  It includes five love memos to scatter around the house, attach to the mirror, hide in the car, or work place, place in his/her bible, for your loved one to find throughout the day!!  I have 3 color-ways to choose from: red/brown, yellow/brown and green/brown.  Each hand sewn plush heart has a little saying hand stitched.  Use these to make their day extra special!!

There are a handful of Christmas pine cone cards left in the shop, and now they are HALF off!!  Get them soon!!!

PAPER+TWINE's future

If you haven't seen, my family will be moving to Scotland, at the beginning of the year.  I am planning on having the shop open all through December, where you can find my regular gocco'ed cards, journals, and Tooth Fairy Kits, along with some Christmas cards and a new item, Santa Claus Calling Cards.  I have one more batch of Tooth Fairy Kits currently available.  Once they sell out, I will not be putting any more in the shop until I reopen again, sometime mid 2012.  I am planning on keeping the shop going, once my family and I get all situated and comfortable in our new home.  This shop break works out well with my maternity leave too!
After the Christmas holiday, I will only have a set amount of Cupid Kits, for Valentine's Day, that were so popular last year, and anymore Tooth Fairy Kits if they are still available.  My sister is kind enough to be running the shop until after Valentine's Day.

So... to recap:

a paper+twine christmas!

I have a few Christmas items in my shop, PAPER+TWINE, now.  A few pine cone cards, which you may remember from last year.  The pine cones are hand drawn, then gocco printed with gold ink on cream and brown card stock.  They are available in single cards, or sets of 4.  

I also have a new item in the shop, which I am excited about... SANTA CLAUS CALLING CARDS!!  Wouldn't it be great for your child to wake up, run to the fire place, and see that Santa has left his card behind, letting them know that he was there?!  Maybe there is even a special message written just to your child on the back.  The Santa silhouette is a custom carved stamp, by me, and all 10 cards in a pack are hand stamped with red ink.  Including the sweet little drawstring bag too.  Hope you like it!

all packaged up

I love a good package, don't you? (That's why I would have LOVED to attend Packaging 101!)  I have been working on my shop, PAPER+TWINE's packaging, just a bit, this weekend.  Nothing too major, so far.  I added a little velum tag to my kits, and a big round coral sticker, with PAPER+TWINE stamped on it, with white ink, to close up the packaging.  I need to order some new business cards, cause I just don't like the ones I have right now!!  I am so fickle.  But I like the direction I am headed, so far... even if it is small steps.

I have put more Tooth Fairy Kits in my shop, PAPER+TWINE.  There are two colors, teal, and coral.  Enjoy being the tooth fairy to your little ones!

back from the lake + thank you!

Well! We are back from vacation with friends that I have known since elementary school, and this morning, I am wishing I was still swimming in the lake and relaxing!  What a treat it was to see SO many new readers, and all the nice comments about my fabric garland and the craft party invites.  Thank you!  And thank you Hip Hip Hooray! and Creature Comforts for posting.  And with the Daily Candy's post on How to be the Tooth Fairy, I have been very busy filling orders on my Tooth Fairy Kits.  Thank you all for your business!
