I'm not sure what made me think of it, but one day, while in a pile of toys in the living room, I looked over to the dining space, and thought, 'lets change it to a play space!' Jason gave it a yes, so that night we switched it up. Our IKEA dining table fit in our kitchen eating space, once we took the leaves out of the table, and we just had to rearrange a couple things and ta da! A play space. I only bought one thing for the switch, a rug, (which I had been wanting one for that spot anyways) so I don't feel too guilty about moving things around. We can always change it back if we decide it doesn't work for us.
The boys always eat dinner before Jason and I, and in the kitchen, and then we usually settle in front of the TV for dinner ourselves, so the big table wasn't getting too much use besides collecting piles of things most days. I do hope to settle into a full family meal time in the future, but with our boys begging for food at 4:30, and Jason getting home around 7:30 these days, its not going to happen. The boys seem to like the space, although toys venture into the living area still, but I like that their things have a designated spot now, keeps me a bit more sane in our messy, playful days.

oh my word..I absolutely love this space! I found your blog today from a long ago post by Smile and Wave. Now I'm looking around and love your what I see - so happy I found you!! This tent is amazing..did you make it? I've been wanting to make one for my little guy and I think I could finagle something like this :) xoxo
Hi Joy! I did make the tent. I used a tutorial on Ruby's 'My Cakies' blog... but we added the little extra piece on top, helped with it not falling open on slippery wood floors. Search 'A frame tent' on pinterest and you should find a tutorial!
