a nature hunt

This weekend we took some time to go on a nature hunt, and pick blackberries.  I thought it would be fun for Noah to have a little pictogram chart, for certain items to find, so I drew up on the computer,  a handful of things I knew we would probably see on our hunt.  Every time he found it, he got to put a sticker next to it.  He really enjoyed it, and got into the hunt.  I also got him a 'nature jar' where he could collect bits of nature, to bring back home with him.  I think all of our favorite things to find were the colorful leaves.  Noah wanted to find a blue leaf, but unfortunately, we didn't find one.
We live really close to a nice trail, lined with lots of trees, and black berries, and it looks down on some horses and cows.  Asher loves those animals!  Uncontrolable joy and excitement from him when he sees them, with him yelling his version of "moo!!  moo!!" over and over.  While on our nature hunt, I was on the lookout for a perfect stick to hang our Christmas stockings on this year.  We don't have a mantel, so I am planning on doing this look... may even make us some new stockings, we will see.  Our walk was nice and we enjoyed crunching in the leaves and smelling Christmas outside, (yes, Christmas does have a smell!) and we went home and all my boys chowed down on blackberries and watched Peter Pan.  A nice relaxing weekend indeed.

A nature hunt, what a great idea! When my little girl is a wee bit older I will definitely be doing this with her. I also love the nature jar idea!

So gorgeous. I want, no, need to go on a nature hunt now and that clown costume is the most gorgeous costume I've seen a long, long time. Thank you
