Jason turned 40 this past weekend, and although he isn't much of a celebrations type of guy, I wanted to make his birthday special. Black was a requirement for a 40th birthday, of course, so I blew up 40 black balloons, and attached birthday notes to them, from friends and family back in the states. One of my favorite things about Jason is his laugh. Not when he's just laughing at little funny things, but I mean REALLY laughing - usually at some inappropriate Will Ferrell movie or just being silly or telling stories that he thinks are funny from the past. I asked friends and family to tell him of their favorite funny memory of him, cause I wanted to hear him laugh. They pulled through and I loved watching him read them and then start laughing. It was such a simple "gift" to him, but I knew it was the perfect gift to give to Jason, and he really loved it. He said he was hoping to get some black balloons! I also tried making frozen margaritas (they aren't common here, Jason misses them!) and he said it was good and strong! Maybe too strong, I'll hold off on some of the tequila next time! Noah and I made him a birthday cake and Noah was very proud and put all 20 candles on the cake, very precisely. We thought 40 may have been too much, so we settled for less.
A simple, easy, birthday celebration with the family. A perfect little combo. He said no more big celebrations until he is 50! Okay. (wink!)
